Outstanding cast and a decent idea. Probably hit the ceiling for its premise.
movie review
Drive Angry (2011) 30%
Strange, predictable, and ultimately disappointing, despite the fact that I have a decent tolerance for bad Cage movies compared to many people. William Fichtner steals some scenes, and Amber Heard is fun to watch, so I guess that adds up to 30%.
Conan the Barbarian (2011) 50%
Action-packed ridiculousness. I bet the director and producer very much wish that the 1982 movie was never made, because it gave people the wrong impression compared to the Robert Howard original character.
American Sniper (2015) 65%
Tense and engaging. Portrays a simplistic, absolutist morality typical of war movies. Which is to say that it is much more of a fantasy than the biography it purports to be.
The Cobbler (2015) 30%
Weak.
Mr. Turner (2014) 50%
The cinematography is impressive, as is Spall’s array of gutturals, but the story holds little interest.
Deep in the Darkness (2014) 30%
Cheap horror movie driven by illogical choices and lack of communication.
Antarctica: A Year on Ice (2014) 60%
Slightly interesting documentary with neat time-lapse shots.
The Sweetest Thing (2002) 20%
90 minutes of fatuous superficiality that one woman found funny.
The Incredibles (2004) 65%
Interesting and competent, but takes a while to get going, and is not for the youngest of viewers. A couple questionable casting choices as well.
