I wish the makers of this series would realize how awful it is, and deliver the silliness with a wink and a nod the way the Twilight folks seem to. Instead it is all humorless pander.

Fairly intelligent political thriller, but loses much without the context of the earlier installments.

Average crime thriller, with a decent effort from Neeson and Harris (+5%).

I am suspicious that the books upon which movies like this are based are produced by a computer program (codenamed “Nicholas Sparks”) that takes a witch’s brew of inputs and spits out cheesy and contrived romantic stories. In this case, the inputs were “Jewish immigrants”, “the son of Clint Eastwood”, “art snobs”, “bull-riding cowboys”, and “North Carolina”.

Not well directed, but an interesting milieu.
