Left Behind (2014) 20%
So, in the end times, will movies like this stop being made? Just weighing my options. Ripe for riffing and drinking-game worthy (+20%), I defer to Christy Lemire’s better review.
Howl’s Moving Castle (2005) 80%
Really creative.
GoodFellas (1990) 80%
Tour de force. Holds up well over time.
Gravity (2013) 90%
Gripping throughout.
Green Zone (2010) 50%
Lame story constructed around a desire to point out the Bush administration’s war justification lies and strategic ineptitude. Might have been better if Greengrass could ever find someone that can hold a camera steady.
Chris Rock: Bigger & Blacker (1999) 60%
I Origins (2014) 40%
Engrossing, but also pretentious, superficial, and thoroughly annoying. Here’s to hoping that writer/director Cahill researches more than two Wikipedia pages before tackling science or spirituality again.
The Boxtrolls (2014) 70%
An unique artistic style and a nice story aid this family stop-motion.
Finding Nemo (2003) 80%
Another very good animated family movie from Pixar.
